Billboard.com reports that MARDUK has been banned from entering Guatemala for being Satanic.
The congressional decree banning anyone involved with the group known as MARDUK was approved Wednesday by an 87 to 13 vote. Independent lawmaker Oliverio Rodas commented that the groups music is offensive to the morality of the Christian people of Guatemala.
However, opposition lawmaker Eva Monte Bac argued that the ban violates the constitution, accused colleagues of being hypocrites. She asked why reggaeton music with misogynist lyrics or narco-ballads that glorify drug traffickers have not been banned.
The band was supposed to perform in Guatemala on October 11.
MARDUKs latest album, Viktoria, was released on June 22, 2018. The albums lyrics follow in a similar vein to some of their previous albums, focusing on historical World War II lyrical themes.

Above all, it is human, and all that that entails. It's as sincere as we could make it."

"I knew that I wanted to go in a darker direction, and this is our most death metal album to date," states vocalist/guitarist Dave Davidson.
Dutch death metal veterans PESTILENCE has parted ways with bassist Tilen Hudrap due to "scheduling differences" and have replaced him with Edward Negrea (NECROVILE).
Tilen states: "Thanks to all our fans all over the world for mega support this year! It's appreciated more than you can imagine! It was an insane year, a crazy ride indeed with my life-long brothers Patrick, Calin and Septimiu, filled with good vibes and energy.
"I'm extremely proud to be a part of this historic legacy of death metal that is PESTILENCE and playing alongside my bro and one of the biggest innovators in extreme metal genres ever, Patrick Mameli! I will cherish these times forever!
"Sometimes life gives us opportunities that we can't say 'no' to and 2019 is going to be so busy for me in my other musical journeys that I had to make the most difficult decision ever: to leave PESTILENCE, because the band has a mega hectic schedule for 2019 planned as well. All the experiences we had together will stay with me forever and I wish my brothers in PESTILENCE absolute success in the future!"

Former CANDLEMASS singer Messiah Marcolin joined ENTOMBED A.D. on stage on September 22 at Katalin in Uppsala, Sweden to perform a cover version of ROKY ERICKSON AND THE ALIENS' "Night Of The Vampire". Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.
ENTOMBED A.D. recently returned with a new single, "Fit For A King". The song is taken from the band's forthcoming third album, which is currently in the works.
Vancouver BC-based progressive death metal band TECHNICAL DAMAGE have released its debut album The Introspect. Frontman Kurtis Jeffery shares his thoughts on the album:
"Trying to balance what is ultimately a multitude of different lives over the past year has drawn upon wells of creative and critical energy whose depths I had not fully realized until we sat down to write this record. The Introspect has everything - walls of sound, brutal death metal, reggae breakdowns, huge synthesizers - and it is a manifesto to the complicated nature of human beings and how we see ourselves. Even if you aren't drawn to metal, there is something for everyone in this piece of art."
NORTHERN CROWN will release their self-titled sophomore album on October 12. Pre-order packages are available now, including the limited edition (300 copies) LP-style gatefold CD version coupled with digital album download. You can also stream another new song, "Chasing the Sun," the download of which is included with the limited edition pre-order option.
The band has sharpened the approach on the forthcoming full-length, combining more dirty rock organ and chunky guitar riffs with their trademark doom-isms. Following up on their debut album The Others, their self-titled sophomore release maintains the smoke and mirrors of the first EP In The Hands of The Betrayer but leans more in the direction of the first record and the band's oldest rock influences - DIO, RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, and BLACK SABBATH.
NORTHERN CROWN handled mixing on their own again, but brought in the mastering talents of Tony Lindgren from Sweden's Fascination Street Studios (Witchcraft, Enslaved, Amorphis) for the final touches. Artwork by prolific artist Travis Smith (Opeth, Katatonia, Death) captures the album's winding atmosphere, rounding out the release.
Reflecting the uncertainty of the dark times we exist in at the moment, Northern Crown tackles the difficult subject of how well we really know ourselves and how that shapes what we do and become. Echoing their previous releases' indulgent 10-minute+ epics, the track, "The Desert and The Wind," nods to the prog-heads, while the band also includes a glowing tribute to My Dying Bride with a full cover of "Your River." The record also introduces a lineup change, with vocalist and guitarist Frank Serafine handling drums. Weaponlord's mighty Leona Hayward returns on bass, backing Zachary Randall's guitar alchemy and harsh vocals. Solos from Nightfall/Dark Hound lead shred-monster Evan Hensley punctuate the record.
"Stand Up And Be Counted", a brand new song from Death metal veterans MASTER, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming full-length album, "Vindictive Miscreant", which will be released on November 28 via Transcending Obscurity Records.
Canadian thrash metal pioneers EXCITER has once again parted ways with guitarist John Ricci.
The news of Ricci's exit was broken by bassist Allan Johnson, who wrote on his Facebook page: "Some rather heavy news in the EXCITER camp. Due to certain professional and personal differences, John Ricci has decided to leave the band. I wish to inform the fans worldwide that Dan Beehler [drums, vocals] and I are going to forge on with our songwriting and recording. However, live shows will be postponed until such a time that we can find a suitable guitarist."
He continued: "As I am the sole administrator of the EXCITER Original Facebook page I will continue to post from time to time to keep up the legacy of what we have accomplished over the last four and a half years, but I will no doubt create a whole new Facebook page for the next incarnation of EXCITER. In the meantime, all the best of luck and health to John."
